Look Left? Look Right?

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.…" ~John 10:27-29

With so many distractions in our busy lives these days, it’s hard to know which way to look. Do I go this way or do I go that way? Which plan should I follow? Who should I listen too? Confusing hey!

If you have been following the news reports and happenings surrounding the month of September 2015, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear you say how hard it was to keep up with everything that was going on in the world.

Maybe in a way it’s easier to just ignore it all.

The refugee/immigration crisis of those crossing into the EU by land and sea plays with our heads and emotions. Planned Parenthood continues to shock as it is exposed for what they have really been doing behind the scenes. The persecution and torture of our Christian family in Iraq and the Middle East makes our hearts cry out, but yet our collective voices seem silent. The Pope’s visit and speeches to the US and the UN Assembly was applauded by many. However, it was concerning from a Christian perspective, if you listened carefully to the words he spoke. The increasing military presence in Syria, with Russia (and Iran) and China supplying troops and war planes, under the disguise of sorting ISIS, continues the rumour of war. Even more concerning is their operations and closeness to Israel’s border. The 70th UN General Assembly of world leaders, praised the Iran Nuke deal and raised the Palestinian flag for the first time in recognition of the State of Palestine. Opposing, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to protect and defend Israel from Iran and other Islamic militant threats. The 4th and final ‘blood moon’ of the lunar tetrad capturing world attention and providing stunning photos across Jerusalem as they began the festival of Sukkot.

Regardless of which item caught your attention the most, these events all beg the question and leave us with a sense of where is this leading to? How are we to react today? What does this mean for my family as Christians? It may well be that we agree to disagree on some of these world news details. Regardless of this, Psalms 73:23-25 reminds us “Yet I am always with you; You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterwards you will take me into your glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.”  I want to encourage you to PRAY for what God lays on your heart, seek him and be reassured that he is greater than all. Jesus is knocking at the door, PRAY for those that are yet to know him; that they will find him and call upon his name.

Do we look left? Do we look right? NO – We look UP and keep watch, we listen for Jesus voice and we follow him as we ready ourselves for him.

When we get distracted; that is where our eyes need to be. He will steady our feet for our help comes from the Lord.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” ~ Psalm 73:26
